An important 18th century travel account by Abraham Bogaert (1663-1727), a physician in the service of the Dutch East India Company (V.O.C.). This work describes journies to the East Indies, the Bantam War, and the expulsion of the French from Siam (Thailand), and the political situation at The Cape of Good Hope in the early 18th century.

[Boegaerts Historical Journeys through the Eastern Parts of Asia.] Published in original vellum, 4to. 15 folding plates, coloured by a contemporary hand. Bookplates to inside cover and to front free end paper. Covers stained, rubbed and lightly worn in places. Title to top of spine. This work details accounts of Bogaerts far Eastern travels, plus stop in the Canary Islands and South Africa. Bogaerts documents the oppressive rule of (Dutch) Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel at the Cape, and supported the local free citizens. This work also includes historical descriptions of the kingdoms and landscapes in Asia. This work is regarded as a valuable source of VOC history. Coloured plates in order: 1. Frontispiece. 2.
